Julia Farrell – Launceston Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards – Young Professional of the Year 2014
It is with great pride and pleasure that Ruddicks announces that Julia Farrell, Manager, has been recognised by receiving the prestigious honour of Young Professional of the Year 2014 at the CGU Launceston Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards on Saturday 25th of October 2014.
Julia won this Award from a very talented pool of applicants and finalists. Julia has been recognised for what she brings not only to our profession and our firm, but her roles within our community. Originally from the Ukraine, Julia and her mother immigrated to Australia when Julia was 12 years of age. She finished her schooling here earning an International Baccalaureate Diploma from Launceston College in 2004. Whilst studying her degree at the University of Tasmania, she commenced work with Ruddicks on a part time basis during 2006. She earned a number of University scholarships and Awards and was included on the Deans Roll of Excellence (Faculty of Business/Commerce) for 2005 and 2006. She completed her CA qualification through Ruddicks in 2011 and was promoted to Manager on 1 July 2014. She is currently studying her Masters of Taxation through the University of New South Wales. She has been involved with the Young Tax Practitioners Group here in Launceston and just two weeks ago was a speaker at the Taxation Institute of Australia’s Tasmanian State Convention.
Julia is a pro-active mentor to some of our staff and provides them not only with professional guidance but assists in their professional journey by sharing her experiences with them.
Julia has been proactive in the community as well, taking on the role of Vice President with the University Film Society and is a regular volunteer supervisor at Harvest Launceston. She has previously been involved as a volunteer with the RSPCA and a committee member for the Greyhound Adoption Program. During 2013, Julia was a regular speaker at Westpac’s Ruby Connection events in Launceston and also participated in the Next Gen Business Team Challenge taking part in both the presentations and judging of the winners.
We congratulate Julia on her success and congratulate her and her family (including Alex and Spanna, Julia’s greyhound children!)
